Stock Picks

for July 11, 2007
  1. Whew, what a day for the market.  Negative reports for Home Depot, Alcoa, Sears, D.R. Horton (this one no big surprise) and others.  Take high energy prices and the subprime issues worsening over time and we have something to watch.  The next couple of weeks will be very telling about the health of corporations, the consumer, and the markets.
  2. LEH is getting very close to a point where we will average down.  From here, any big intraday drop amounting to 2% or more decline would be a good place to average down.  This stock is really undervalued here.
  3. As we mentioned, one additional pick this week is highly probable.  We do not want to push anything if we can get some weakness, especially if our screener points at better upcoming bargains.

for July 10, 2007
  1. MTL is running nicely.  25% profit is certainly a nice point to sell some here, but we are going to formally let it run a bit more.
  2. All other positions are tracking expected patterns.
  3. We still have room for up to 8 more positions, and will release at least one more this week.
  4. I think we missed PCU, but we will give it a couple more days.  If it keeps running we will give up on this one.

for July 6, 2007
  1. ICFI and MTL are doing well.  An almost 15% gain and a 21% gain.  We are going further with this one, but if you do not have the appetite for risk, now would be a good time to take some profits off the table.
  2. AAPL is doing very well.  We love this one for a few more months as all of the many potentials for growth play out.  iPhone in USA, now multiple countries in Europe, the pull-through for more iTunes, and much more.  The upside is much bigger we believe.  Be prepared for some pullbacks before then though (maybe).
  3. The next newsletter will be evening  of July, 9, 2007 as we are taking a much needed vacation.  Until Monday.

for July 5, 2007
  1. You will notice that we updated the PFE entry price with the two dividends that have been paid since we bought the stock.  We will do this periodically so that ROI is reflected accurately.
  2. Did you notice our new Portfolio tool displayed when you log into the website?  Now, you can log on anytime you want and see how the portfolio is doing as the entries are updated in real time (quotes are delayed 20 minutes).  If you hover over te blue 'i' you can see a detailed quote and the current Gain/Loss for the particular portfolio entry.
  3. Wow, PCU has rocketed.  We wish we had released this one a day earlier, but such is life.  We will give it a couple more days and see what happens.
  4. Portfolio is performing well, stay tuned for more picks in the next few days, we have room for up to 8 more stocks.

for July 3, 2007
  1. So, we are in AAPL.  You should be in a half position.  I will let you know when.  We may add if it goes up 5%, we may add if it goes down 5%.  I will be watching closely.  Earnings in 2.5 weeks and the market will have some indication of iPhone sales.  Piper analyst says 500,000 units sold over the past the weekend.  Wow.
  2. We are also in SAIA;  see worth the wait, it came back for us.
  3. PCU.  Wow.  This is not the first time our screener was right on top of a big move.  Makes us think our algorithm has some similarities with some institutional players.  Nice.  Keep PCU open just in case.  We are not going to pursue this one.
  4. Short market day tomorrow, enjoy.
