Stocks opened down as low market volume is likely on last trading day of the year.  Existing home sales for November edged up slightly, but still posted a 20% decline over the last 12 months.  Given the decline over 12 months it is probable that many buyers are on the sidelines awaiting further price declines.  The housing recession continues to weigh on investor's minds into 2008 as all await any sign of a bottom.
